Guinness For Two
Last night we had the pleasure of taking in some live music by a friend of ours Ryan McKenna at Slainte Irish Pub here in Hamilton. Ryan and his brother Joel make up the two person band McKenna.
I found a music video of their hit song “Guinness for Two" located here on Google video. (Check out their myspace page too.)
Rather liking the song, I’ll post the lyrics here as well…
Guinness For Two
Written by: Ryan McKenna
Here and now we are less than we were nearly yesterday.
Death is a mystery to those left behind.
So we offer a chorus to those gone before us
and one in particular shines.
So I’ll say hello to the girls that you know
and they’ll laugh ’till they cry over stories of you.
At a table for one I’ll recall all you’ve done
and I’ll finish my Guinness for two.
Away, oh, away! A glass for one away.
Today, oh, today! The past is done today.
Well, they say when you lose any limb you could choose
that surely you feel it, but surely it’s gone.
In the same way, we know, up above we’ll be whole
and our grand misadventures go on.
Though I miss you like burning, I don’t wish your returning,
for you have gone on to joy evermore.
And I’ll follow you soon for a life is a tune
and together we’ll sing the encore.

i didn’t know that you knew these guys! neat-o. i grew up with the mckennas.
I know Ryan the best of the McKennas. We were in choir and a main stage play together at redeemer university college, etc.
I just heard this song for the first time today and cannot get enough of it. Totally top notch stuff. I’ve been madly searching the web for more info on these guys ever since. Came across this page and have to thank you for posting the lyrics. Great stuff indeed. Their website no longer seems to work, but I’ll certainly take a gander at their myspace page.
A Great Video all shot in Stratford at some of the local bars there. I”ve had the opportunity to only see them once but would like to see them again soon.
Any ideas when their coming back to Stratford?
Thank you!
Cheers (a Guinness)
